Making myself a "MORE FIT PHOTOGRAPHER"

Today is the first day of Laila Ali's "GET FIT CHALLENGE" that I have decided to sign up for. I decided to do this challenge in order to gain a healthier lifestyle but also to continue my journey of losing weight with more motivation. A substantial amount of women and friends of mine have signed up and we are all going on this 8 week journey together. We are able to keep up with each others progress and motivate each other through MyfitnessPal. Anywho, again I wanted to join because I hit a stone in my workouts and dieting to where I was at a standstill with my weight. Around the end of March I was at a weight of 150...which didn't look like 150 on me but I still felt UGH!! So I decided to get to it and work my butt of and lose the weight. I am trying to get to my pre-baby weight which is actually 117lbs but 120lbs will suffice for me. As of right now, May 23, I am 134. So I have lost 16lbs...and I am not done yet. Starting this challenge will definitely make me get to my ideal weight and get toned up. I have a couple more lbs to lose in order to actually be in the "normal" range for my BMI....so I am proud of myself!!!

My first Newborn Photo Shoot (Welcoming Beautiful Jianny)

So yesterday was my first newborn photo shoot! Normally I'm shooting models and families..basically anything other than beautiful little newborns. My friend Odi (that I did maternity photos for as well) trusted me in taking photos of her precious new addition to the family...Jianny!! To make it convienent for her and Jianny I took my portable home studio and did the shoot in the comforts of her home so that she would not have to go through the hassle of getting out the house. Trust me..I have two boys so I know how it is!!

I had a great time shooting her princess!! While shooting we also had "girl time". Friends Vicki and Kenia came over and we talked and laughed and just enjoyed each others company while I did the shoot! I love those girls!!

Ok so I finally got a chance to start editing Jianny's photos this morning. Seeing the background and colors and her skin tone with the wardrobe I decided to go towards a more vintage look for her photos.  I look forward to learning more about shooting newborns. Since this is my first time, bear with me..I am in hopes of other photographers getting together workshops for newborn photography so I can get a few pointers out of it!!

Busy, Busy Bee

So summer school has officially started for me. Yesterday was my first lab up at the school. The other 2 classes I am taking online. So now I have 3 classes I am taking, searching for a school for my oldest son JR, a good amount of photos to still be edited, etc. I am supermom so it will definitely get done!

BLESSED BEYOND MEASURE!!!

Wow!!! It's been a WHILE since I have been able to blog about anything. Yes, I update on my facebook business page: KLM'S FACEBOOK FAN PAGE!! but my actual blog I have been neglecting!! I apologize to my blogger followers!! And also my 365 Day photo followers as well. I have been so busy with the kids and school and  my photography business has really grown and sky rocketed to when I started. I'm either online editing or doing schoolwork. Ever since I started the 365 day photo challenge I have not missed a day I have just been so busy with making sure my clients come first I have not been able to post the photos!! :( I will get to it soon..promise!!

Since I started my "once was a hobby" photography into a "something I love business" this past November I have had so many great opportunities come my way and have been able to work with so many AMAZING models, families, and friends to bring them quality photos to cherish for a lifetime!! One thing that I absolutely LOVE is the first moment my clients...I'd rather call them FRIENDS...get their photos back and the first thing that comes out of their mouths is normally "OMG"..lol LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!! That truly makes me happy when I know that what I do is making others happy and they are satisfied with the services that I provide!! Being a self-taught photographer makes it extra special because it shows that everything that I have been able to learn from others and teach myself is actually creating results and making an impact on others!! Yes it would be great to have a degree in this field but if you truly love something...degree's really do not matter...as long as the finished product is what they want and they love..that's all that matters to me!! I have been blessed to work with magazines....Sofi Lifestyle Magazine and Rolling Out Magazine. That is HUGE for me seeing as though I have just been in the game for what...5 months!! Networking and making sure that my portfolio is something that shows greatness has allowed me to get my name out there and word of mouth has shown that I am doing something right!!

This has been an absolute dream to be able to do something I love and to continue to be successful at it. The one person that pushed me to go for it was my husband. And I love him to death for that!!! If anyone knows me, they know that I will get an idea to do something and a month later either quit or get tired of it. My husband has been through the past 5 years of me starting so many projects and everything else and not sticking through them. And with all those projects being unsuccessful, my husband STILL stood by me and believed in me in wanting to start my photography business and helped me in starting everything!! I am truly thankful to have a PATIENT MAN as my better half!!! Not many people have someone in their life that will be there for them like that...so I can truly say that I am BLESSED BEYOND MEASURE to have him as my husband and best friend!!! My husband and our two boys are my motivation!!!!!
